Proactive Leadership for Minnesota’s 2nd District.
My name is Abdi Abdulle, and I am running for Congress in Minnesota’s 2nd District because this moment demands leadership that anticipates what’s coming, not leadership that reacts after the damage is done.
Currently, the DFL party is in defensive mode. Too many elected officials across all levels wait for crises to emerge before they speak, legislate, or act. That is not a leadership. True leadership involves seeing situations from multiple points of view. Leadership is about having a courage. It is about refusing to stay silent when warning signs are already clear.
I am an educator, a father, and a lifelong advocate for the community. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to working directly with families and youth. Whether in the classroom, coaching educators, or serving in an executive leadership role, families have always been at the center of my discussions. I don’t just read about the challenges families face; I witness them every day. I understand parents’ concerns about gun safety and the rapid influence of unregulated AI and online platforms on children’s lives, often without adequate safeguards. I recognize the pressures on schools, the anxiety within the community, and the growing disconnect between policymakers and the people they serve. All these factors significantly impact lives.
As a father, safety is more than just a vague idea; it is very personal to me. As an educator, ethical and developmental responsibilities are not optional; they are part of my core values and constant commitment. As a leader, making decisions with a cultural, moral, and long-term perspective is non-negotiable.
I have both personal experience and professional training for this run. I hold a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Education. I’ve led teams, managed systems, and made important decisions. I understand how policies affect real life and recognize that they often fall short when leaders are not connected to the people they serve.
We are also living in a dangerous civic moment. Democracy itself is under attack. Communities are being targeted. Federal agents are appearing in ways that intimidate families, schools, and small businesses. Too many leaders remain silent to protect the party’s image rather than defend constitutional principles.
I am running to be a cultural bridge, someone who understands diverse communities, listens across differences, and speaks clearly when others are uncertain. My campaign is not funded by big donors or special interests. It belongs to the people of Minnesota’s 2nd District, and not to anyone else.
The DFL CD2 Convention will be held on May 9, 2026, at Burnsville High School. If you believe, as I do, that we need proactive leadership grounded in principle rather than influenced by special interests or large groups, your involvement and support are essential. Please join the campaign as we work to build and rebuild our community today for a better tomorrow.
If you agree that our district deserves a leader who will speak up, see ahead, and act with integrity, I hope to earn your support, your vote, and your participation in this campaign. Its time for change and its time to speak against what is wrong within.
Thank you for standing with Abdulle Standing with democracy and for being part of what comes next.
Work experience:
I currently serve as the Executive Director of a nonprofit education organization in Richfield, Minnesota, where I lead initiatives that empower students and strengthen community education. My career began in Minneapolis Public Schools, where I served as a classroom teacher, K–12 school counselor, and Advanced Academic Coordinator roles which deepened my understanding of both the challenges and potential within our public education system.
Before taking on my current leadership role, I worked directly with inner-city youth and families, helping bridge opportunity gaps and building programs that fostered academic achievement, career readiness, and civic engagement.
As a school administrator, I understand firsthand the critical role that education plays in shaping the future of our children and communities. I look forward to working closely with our School Districts and Higher Education, a strong system facing new opportunities and challenges as our community grows more diverse. With my experience, credentials, and lifelong dedication to serving families, youth, and education,I am prepared to represent and address the evolving needs of our Minnesota Congressional district 2.. I invite your support and participation as we work together to rebuild our community for the benefit of all.
